Article and Video Interview w/ReP

Saturday June 30th 2012 one of the hottest heatwaves here in New York City, I arrive to the city quarter to 11am, still early the haze of the heat haven’t arrive to cloud my thoughts! I gradually start to set up my equipment and wait to interview up and coming rapper ReP (Representing Extraodinary Poetry). Once I finish setting up almost like clock work ReP arrived! His demenor was laid back and warm at the sametime I could tell that I was in the presence of a good spirit! We greeted eachother with a hug and basically got right down to business to find out who ReP is and how as an emerging artist he would make his name well known worldwide!

ReP had his start straight out of Highschool. Rep explained that his manager had a good relationship with people in the industry in turn he start meeting task makers in the game. These task makers start tuning his ear taking him from one level to the next. In regards to his career within the music industry he states “Trying to pursue the craft and path that I’m taking its not easy because you gotta be on top of things twenty-four seven..like I dont party…I dont really hang out as much as someone my age would really hang out. I have to give up the things that I want to do the things that I got to do!”

In regards to RePs personality, musical inspirations and how he would stand out this is how he explained it in his own words: “If you get to know me on a personal level I feel like I’m a lil bit older than my age
without getting in depth with conversation, I am an Aquarius I like to learn from others and I like to be taught and I like to teach! Being well rounded is my persona I love being creative and I love taking risks. As far as Outkast tribe called quest and De la Soul I relate because they’re creative at the utmost level of being creative because in their time they didn’t think other artist wasn’t doing it..that’s what I want to do be creative and try new things! I think the best way for me to stand out is by having personality and being an individual as oppose to just following trends..I don’t mind being werid i don’t mind being different..if your in a room full of everybody in white its hard to tell who is who if yur not looking by faces but if your just looking at the overall appearence and im the only one in black i would probably stand out. I don’t mind putting personal things out so listeners can understand who i am so they can somewhere grasp relate somehow ..in all reality we all relate at some point and at sometime. Im gonna be the individuality that I am..Im gonna be REP!

I asked if anyone has ever discouraged him from pursuing his dream he stated:
“Apart from haters, for the mot part people within my circle, my family, friends they support me pretty much! I haven’t heard much people say no you not gonna go far! People in the industry don’t say Hey Rep you ain’t gonna go far this isn’t going to happen. Rep pauses then continues everyting is all there you gotta keep on trying! Haters will try to bring my confidence down but it goes in one ear and out the other! I already made up my mind of what I want to do so I’m gonna Keep it moving all day!”

ReP currently has an album out called Rooftop Persona which an be found at: http://yeahimrep.bandcamp.com/
ReP is in the studio now producing the main stream album Dare to fly. The Brooklyn born MC is determined to make his mark in the Hip Hop industry! Without further or do I present to you the video interview of ReP!

The 1yr Anniversary Of JayBlessed.com & Reflections/Video

On April 17th 2012 I had the opportunity to attend Jamie Alleyne-Morris a.k.a Jay Blessed 1yr Anniversary celebration of the launch of http://www.jayblessed.com. This site is dedicated to everything Caribbean from news, gossip, fashion to interviews.  The event was held at the stunning futuristic theme Yotel located on 42nd st and 10th ave in New York City. The breathtaking lounge area drapped inside to  the outside terrace, the lights complimented the long exquiste bar! The rich abstract art surrounded the door which peeked open as the red carpet glowed and staff for the event put the last touches on this magical event! I entered and set up my camera equipment, the show had begun then after taking several shots of attendees of the event Jay made her grand entrance! No surprise Jay looked stunning in a short mustard gold colored backless dress and medium powder blue shoes with tall golden heels!  Jay Blessed greeted her guest as she flashed her white pearls and swooped some of sandy gold highlighted locks out of her face. That night was finally the moment for Jay to truly shine with all the hard work she consistently put into her brand of media!

I met Jay a little over three years ago, we use to work together at a job that didn’t help us demonstrate our true potential, especially Jay Blessed! Jay started the job months after I did, when I first saw her I instantly thought this woman was gorgeous dressed professional, hair swooped up with a long ponytail and the tallest heels you can find! Once I started to converse with her instantly you knew this woman had a head on her shoulders, very intelligent and powerful! Jay already had an extremely extensive background in working in the field of Mass Communications. To find out the media background and come up of jayblessed click on the link to the previous interview accompanied by the vdeo I did w/ the carribean queen of media here:  http://recognitionmagazine.com/jay-is-blessed

The universe had much bigger plans for Jay Blessed, while she worked at her day  job, Jay embarked on forming a website http://jayblessed.com and podcast dedicated to the carribean community which can be heard on fridays from 3-6pm on http://flavastation.com. In the time that progress Jay formed the television show  “The Jay Blessed  Show” along with her co-host Courtney K. Williams  which can be seen on ustream every Wednesday at 9pm http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jay-blessed.In the world of the world wide web Carribean content is very scarce in regards to news within the caribean, fashion, gossip, sports etc. Jay Blessed has managed to uniquly wrapped that all into one and is slowly but surely becoming a force in revolutionizing mass media! Jay is the role model of what blossoming success looks like when you put passion behind your true career calling with the mindset to never give up! Below you can find photos and a short video clip of the one year anniversary celebration of jayblessed.com. Enjoy!

Movie Review: Think Like A Man

“Think Like A Man” directed by Tim Story is loosely based on the 2009 book by Comedian/Radio Personality Steve Harvey’s “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy and Commitment.  The films characters describes every type of man Steve Harvey describes in his book.  The ever so handsome Michael Ealy plays Dominic “The Dreamer” that is unsure of where he want to go with his career. He is paired up with Taraji P. Henson (Lauren) the carrer driven successful fortune 500 business tycoon that is fixed on having a powerful man and basically not one below her income bracket!  BET’s 106 & Park Terrence J (Michael) is “The Mamas Boy” crazy glued to his mothers apron strings while dating a single mother Candance played by Regina Hall. Romany Malco (Zeke) is”The Player” that is about to meet his challenge with Meagan Good (Mya) whom had her share of being played!  Jerry Ferrera of the tv show Entourage fame plays Jeremy “The Non-Committer”, he is team with Gabrielle Union (Kristen) whom plays his girlfriend of 9yrs!! Comic relief dances all through the movie, Gary Owen (Bennett) “The Married Man” gives settle chuckles but hands down throughout the whole movie comedian Kevin Hart (Cedric) “The Divorce Man” will make you laugh out loud in any scene that he is in without question!

This movie explores what men talk about amongst eachother when it comes to Women, dating, sex, commitment & etc.  The women of the movie try to figure out exactly what men are thinking and how to “Act like A Lady and Think Like a Man” reading and studying Steve Harveys book in order to have the males of this movie turn into putty in their hands!  This film has a series of surprise cameo appearences, most notably the spoiler they give in the trailer of singer/dancer Chris Brown! However I will not give away the rest of the surprise cameos! <smile>

In my opinion this was a good movie, had it’s funny moments, sexy moments and even hints of dramatic moments!  It’s not the greatest movie I ever saw in life but it is worthy to watch twice!  It’s a cute romantic movie that displays people of various backgrounds in a positive light!

Introducing Mr. Brian Hall Jr!

Brian Hall Jr. is the golden boy wonder of today’s social networks twitter, facebook and youtube. The former college basketball player broadcast his b-skills over youtube, played the role of “funny man” with his comic relief skits and now he takes on the part in developing his craft in becoming a serious rapper. This multi-talented young man from Syracuse, New York is ready to expand on his horizons and take a hard grip on the music world and shake it down! Oh and did I mention this handsome kid known as Mr. Brian Hall Jr. will make his modeling debut soon?! Look out for Mr. Hall in a few upcoming magazines!  In this exclusive interview I learned more about Brian Hall Jr. the man on the rise!
RECMAG: I notice that you played mens basketball within a team called the panthers..was this h.s. or college?
BRIAN HALL JR.: Last year I was a junior college basketball player in Dryden, NY.
RECMAG: Currently are you still playing ball with the goal of this being your career?
BRIAN HALL JR.:  I am not playing basketball at the time, I am focused one hundred percent on my entertainment.  The opportunity presented itself, and I am currently fully focused on my music, and soon to get into urban modeling.

RECMAG: You just recently start producing music was this something of interest sitting on the back burner for years or did this interest come to you out of no where?
BRIAN HALL JR: I always joked around with my friends with music.  One day last summer I made a song, put it out and received good feedback on it.  It became more of a job, than a hobby for me.

RECMAG: Do you write and produce the beats?
BRIAN HALL JR.: I don’t produce but I do write.  I actually write my own music.

RECMAG: In an industry where hip hop/rap is basically dead how would your contributions bring it back to life?
BRIAN HALL JR.: Well I plan on bringing good music back.  You can turn on mtv / bet and see that hip – hop as a whole revolves itself around drugs, sex, alcohol, women, and money.  I feel that there is more to life than just that and I hope to get my message across while making people happy with what they hear at the same time.
RECMAG: Do you have other ventures in the works to cross over the Brian Hall Jr. brand on various levels?
BRIAN HALL JR.: Yes very soon I will get involved with urban modeling heavily and open up a new chapter in my life with fashion as well.
RECMAG: Have you planned on producing other artist?
BRIAN HALL JR.:  Not yet, maybe later in the future once I’m established and well.

RECMAG: Who inspires you in the music industry and outside of the industry?
BRIAN HALL JR.: Artists like 50 Cent, Meek Mill, LL Cool J, basically anyone who works hard and shows that you can do it if you stay focused.

>RECMAG: The brianhall youtube channel is receiving a successful amount of hits..what feedback have you received? Has this channel become beneficial to the Brian hall brand on a business level?
BRIAN HALL JR.: Yes I will also be opening up a partnership with Youtube very soon as well.  My music has been heard globally and the views accounted for allow me to do a lot more with my channel.

RECMAG: Does Brian hall have a gf? do u feel on the level that your reaching that there is room for a relationship and if so what must she understand about the industry?
BRIAN HALL JR.: Right now I am single, I have been for about 5 years.  I feel like my work ethic and focus on my entertainment and me as a person doesn’t allow me to get too caught up with the females at this time.  Once I get to where I want and need to be, I will definitely start looking into a relationship.  One thing my woman would have to understand is other women will try and take me from her.  They will also rather see me single than with her so she would have to be comfortable and trustworthy with me.

RECMAG: What has been the greatest advice you have ever received and how did you incorprate it into your life?
BRIAN HALL JR.: The greatest advice I received was to keep God first, and no matter what you choose to do in life, go hard.  Take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself to you.  These words of wisdom have helped me get to where I am today!

Interview w/The Capture Perfect Kings

Recognition Magazine had the opportunity to interview two rising entrepreneurs within the photography/videography industry. The company? Capture Perfect Media..the boss men? Sirr Hall born in the Virgin Islands and Charlie Pride native New Yorker born in the Bronx. Over a year ago through networking, the two focused young men came together as a team to form Capture Perfect Media. This company consist of photography and videography services in the nightlife industry, professional photography, music video production and graphic design just to

name a few!  Whether we are party attendees, striking a pose for a camera or camcorder we take for granted all the hard work a photographer and videographer does to remain standing in this field of the arts! Instead of working for a company Sirr Hall and Charlie Pride decided to become entrepreneurs to bring their passion to life.  When I asked them the advantages/disadvantages of running their own business Charlie explained “ Its time consuming of course because your up late passing the night and day, you have to worry about making your own money.” Charlie pauses then continues.”Price range, charging customers, if they agree/disagree with it! Then worry about getting paid that night, hearing non sense about money coming or not..between two of us we work as our own boss and throw our weight around to make it equal.  We try to put our self in every mix whether a photo-shoot, party..everything we do we take seriously, our work is business  there is no pleasure in it! We are business mind about it..everybody I spoke to about” it” they liked it and said go and take a chance do what you love to do, they supported me!” Charlie grinned as he reflected.

There are the ones that doesn’t support the Capture Perfect  movement not understanding the gentleman’s career path but they are determined to defy all odds!  Currently over the months of observing these entrepreneurs they have defy odds, gaining more notoriety, clientele and success! It goes to show that if you chase your dream long enough by  executing your goals then all things are possible! In this exclusive video interview you the viewer will gain further insight into the minds of these young entrepreneurs and how they plan to dominate the industry! Enjoy!

Styling & Profiling! Interview w/Carlos Ontaneda

The day I met Carlos Ontaneda to interview the weather was damp and soothing. The rain flickered on and off like a switch throughout the day, however it was one of the most relaxing days. I walked over to Greenhouse NYC one of the trendest nightlife hotspots in New York to interview Mr. Ontaneda early in the evening. Spiraling down the stairs I saw a lot of the behind the scenes happenings of Greenhouse in which many are unable to see and felt privileged to experience the ambiance of Greenhouse inside and out!
Carlos was hard at work styling the models for an event that was happening later on within the venue. Ontaneda did everything from steam ironing clothing, dressing the models, slanting tops, drapping jewelery on models to teasing their hair! I had viewed this mans previous work and he indeed has a massive flair for fashion/style. I first met him months back through Public Relations Specialist Blake Harvey (see previous articles I wrote on Mr. Harveys events in the fashion section) at a lunchon Mr. Harvey organized. After meeting and speaking to Carlos his genuine good spirit drew me to wanting to know more about this young talented fashion tycoon!
Mr. Ontaneda only had a few minutes to squeeze in this interview due to his extremely busy schedule, however within them few mins I learned that he was passionate about the work that he does which technically isn’t work due to his love for fashion styling. Carlos foundation of fashion styling is the selection process of what the clientele will wear “First I discuss what they are going for, speak to designers I know and pick things that are their style but add my flair to it!” Carlos exclaims in delite and continues “I like to select things that go above and beyond of what they have expected. Styling is something I have always wanted to do and is my number one career choice.” Wrapping up the interview I had the opportunity to watch Mr. Ontaneda in action.. I formed a deep respect for the field of fashion styling, it requires being fashion savvy, patience and talent to maintain current clientele and recruit new clientele. In this exclusive video interview you the reader will learn more about this new up and coming talent on the rise. Enjoy!

Hit Richards: Video Interview w/The Calisthenics King

Late afternoon on a mild sunny sunday I skipped up the stairs equipped with my camera ready to shoot The Calisthenics King Hit Richards. I already knew Hit would be traveling a good distance from Queens, N.Y. to the Bronx, N.Y therefore I sat patiently in a nearby neighborhood restaurant having a bowl of soup.  In a matter of 10mins Hit came through the door waving and smiling..you could pick up that Mr. Richards is a good spirit!  Hit and I convo flowed as we talked about fitness and life  until I finished my soup, afterwards we headed immediately to the park to shoot footage of The Calisthenics King!
George “Hit” Richards live and breath physical fitness from the time he could walk! Active in basketball, football and baseball Hit was always physically cautious and made the full transition by his 20′s to make physical fitness his second skin!  That skin grew thick in the “Calisthenics” realm Hit sculpt his infamous body only using his body weight through hard work and discipline.
The sunset crossfade into the night and we headed to our  next location for the interview.  In this exclusive video interview Hit talks about  his beginnings, training,  workout routines, food tips and the making of his new book, calendar and dvds. Enjoy!
